The Forest Children are a group of young individuals forced to seek refuge in the forest during the socio-political unrest known as the Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon. This conflict brought school closures, the destruction of homes, and widespread violence.
Amid the turmoil, the forest became our sanctuary—providing safety, food, shelter, water, and medicine. With clothing fashioned from leaves, we held onto hope and drew deep artistic inspiration from our surroundings. Even in survival, the forest became a place where creativity flourished and resilience was born.
How can we overlook the importance of forests when they have provided us with safety, protection, inspiration, and blessings? We cannot. This is why we have pledged to respect, protect, promote, and advocate for forests wherever we go!
As time passed, we have broadened our vision on a global scale through various dynamic initiatives and activities, reaching out to many more communities and youth across Cameroon.
We are dedicated to involving young people in agriculture and fighting poverty in rural areas by empowering children like ourselves. Throughout these efforts, we incorporate advocacy, music, dance, sports, and other recreational activities to bring our communities together, amplify our message, and ensure our voices are heard.
Located in Bamenda II (Mezam Division, North West region of Cameroon), we serve our local community while inspiring the world, from the forest to the globe.
Our music and dance performances celebrate cultural heritage while highlighting the importance of nature. Drawing from diverse experiences in music, indigenous dance traditions, and live showcases, we use art to inspire young people, advocate for social justice, and encourage global efforts to protect the beauty of the natural world.
Through hands-on training in pig rearing, paultry and fish farming, we equip community youth with vital agricultural skills. These sustainable livelihood programs combat poverty while fostering self-sufficiency.
Aligned with our holistic approach, we actively participate in community outreach, connecting with underprivileged individuals and communities. Through give-back initiatives, we provide essential support and contribute to the well-being of our local communities.
Through various sporting events, we engage children and youth, empowering them to become active citizens, embrace healthy lifestyles, and appreciate the environment. Sports serve as a tool to promote socialization, teamwork, and environmental awareness.
We empower individuals through educational programs that promote environmental awareness, sustainable livelihoods, and holistic development. These initiatives equip communities with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive.
